General Description:
Strand anneal and tin plate all lateral wire, drawing stock, and any support wire requiring strand annealing or plating, to specified physical characteristics.
Supervision:
Reports for immediate supervision to Wire Department Manager, designated supervisor or leader.
Duties:
- Process and anneal all lateral wire, drawing stock, and support wire production orders to correct specifications.
- Check every spool or wire with micrometer prior to annealing.
- Set or change temperature on all annealing furnaces to obtain correct results on process or production test.
- Label all spools and mark as per work instructions.
- Weigh all production and record on job card.
- Requisition all material from proper inventory.
- Continually check quality of spooling and physical characteristics of production.
- Check furnace temperature, hydrogen flow and water flow frequently during annealing operation.
- Solve simple mathematical problems
- Practice preventative maintenance on all equipment used.
- Make necessary adjustments on all equipment used.
- Check wire surface under microscope as required.
- Maintain SPC charts.
- Operate and maintain Tin Line operations.
- Ensure product meets required specifications.
- Package core wire products for shipment.
- Inform immediate supervisor of any malfunction or needed repairs on equipment and fill out maintenance request form.
- Observe and practice good housekeeping.
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- May be required to perform any other work as may be determined by the company.
General Qualifications:
Must meet minimum physical, educational, and other standards established by the company.
Equipment Used:
Strand annealing furnaces and take-up tables, instron tester, torsion balance, tackometer, micrometers, scales, calculator and straighteners.
